Just-In-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAI) in mHealth

In this month's session, Jessie Golbus, M.D., M.S., and Mike Dorsch, Pharm.D., M.S. will present on just-in-time adaptive interventions in mHealth. Just-in-time adaptive interventions promise to deliver personalized, dynamic interventions directly to patients through use of push notifications from mobile devices. Although just-in-time adaptive interventions are a powerful tool for shaping health behavior, their application to cardiovascular disease management has been limited as they can be challenging to design. Micro-randomized trials are a novel experimental study design that can be used to optimize just-in-time adaptive interventions. In this talk, we will provide a broad overview of just-in-time adaptive interventions and micro-randomized trials and then illustrate recent applications to cardiovascular disease management.

DIGIT-MI is where faculty and staff across the University of Michigan meet to connect, learn, and share resources that encourage the increased use of digital and mobile technologies and mental wellness measurements in research across multiple disciplines. Each meeting features a speaker(s) who shares how-to's on aspects of research using digital and mobile technologies. Learn more.
