MTRAC Life Sciences (mid stage) Award
Michigan Translational Research and Commercialization (MTRAC) Innovation Hub for Life Sciences (MTRAC Life Sciences) provides resources to support translational research projects in the life sciences that have commercial potential. It is supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and co-managed by Innovation Partnerships, a unit based in the University of Michigan (U-M) Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), and Fast Forward Medical Innovation, a unit based in the U-M Medical School Office of Research.
MTRAC Life Sciences is open to investigators at any public university, non-profit research center, or health system in the state of Michigan. MTRAC Life Sciences includes funding for mid-stage translational studies, regulatory guidance, and limited customer discovery, as well as mentorship from industry and investment experts. It is focused on four specific market segments, or “verticals”: medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, and digital health/IT. MTRAC projects are anticipated to be 12-24 months from a University “exit” in the form of a license into a start-up company or to an existing revenue-generating company.
