Mary Blazek, M.D., is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Michigan, where she directs the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic and the Medical Humanities Path of Excellence.  She has advanced training in Visual thinking Strategies, a structured approach to viewing and discussing art, museum based education, and Narrative Medicine.  She holds a Master of Education in the Health Professions from the Johns Hopkins School of Education and served as a Design Partner Fellow of the inaugural Harvard Macy Institute Art Museum-based Health Professions Education Fellowship.  Dr. Blazek employs the arts to engage medical students  and all health professionals at the interface between medicine and the humanities, enhance their development as emerging physicians, combat ageism in medical education, and promote wellness in physicians and medical trainees.  She leads an elective for medical students in the Visual Arts and Medicine at the University of Michigan Museum of Art.
