Back for a second year, the MeTRIC Symposium will delve into the transformative world of mobile and wearable technologies in health research. The in-person event will be held Friday, November 1 at the North Campus Research Complex in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Mobile technologies are increasingly utilized for data collection and intervention delivery in health research, but hurdles persist. The MeTRIC Symposium brings together University of Michigan researchers and experts to share their work, outline obstacles and lessons learned, and provide guidance for successfully implementing health research utilizing wearable and mobile technologies.

Sessions will showcase pioneering work from U-M scholars and experts, highlighting key issues such as study design, technology, ethics, and novel intervention methods. Attendees will gain valuable insights and practical guidance on leveraging these technologies effectively in their own research. Topics align with resources available to U-M investigators.

Learning objectives

Attendees can expect dynamic presentations, interactive discussions, and opportunities to connect with peers. Following the event, participants will:

  • Understand key considerations to guide decision-making across the research life cycle when incorporating wearables and mobile technologies in human subjects studies.
  • Increase their understanding of rigorous, innovative research methods using mobile technologies in diverse populations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential ethical and safety issues in mobile technologies research.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with others utilizing wearable and other mobile technologies at U-M.
  • Understand how to access U-M resources and support for mobile technologies research.
