Erin Bonar, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, tenured professor in the Department of Psychiatry, and the inaugural Kathy Fant Brzoznowski Research Professor of Behavioral Health Technology Innovations. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University and is also the director of Clinical Programs at U-M Addiction Treatment Services.

Dr. Bonar’s research interests include the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders in diverse populations of adolescents, emerging adults, and adults; understanding and reducing substance use, concomitant risk behaviors (e.g., HIV risk behaviors), and related negative consequences for both individuals and communities; and developing, improving, and evaluating interventions focusing on substance use and related risk behaviors in community settings. She has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, serves on one NIH-study section, and is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Substance Abuse & Addiction Treatment
