Donovan Maust, M.D.
Donovan T. Maust, M.D., M.S., an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry, the Willard C. Blackney Jr. and Geraldine LaTendresse Blackney Research Professor of Geriatric Psychiatry, and a research scientist in the Center for Clinical Management Research of the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. He also serves as the associate director for Research for the Department of Psychiatry’s Geriatric Psychiatry Program. Dr. Maust earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his psychiatry residency and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Maust has two primary areas of research interest. He is interested in understanding both the drivers and consequences of potentially inappropriate psychotropic use among older adults, focusing on benzodiazepines and antipsychotics. In addition, his research explores the factors that drive the potentially inappropriate healthcare utilization of patients with dementia.
