Deborah Berman, M.D., received her undergraduate degree and medical degree at the University of Michigan. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Michigan, joined the faculty for four years, and then went on to complete her Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Michigan, after which she joined the MFM faculty. She is an integral part of the Fetal Diagnostic and Treatment Center team and is the lead for the treatment of monochorionic twin gestations with twin twin transfusion syndrome.  Her clinical research interests include the full spectrum of prenatal diagnosis, fetal abnormalities, and outcomes related to fetal therapy. She has a strong interest in the impact of depression and mental health complications associated with pregnancy. She has collaborated with Neonatology with her work looking at the impact of omega 3 fatty acids on neuroprotection against hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in a fetal rat model. Dr. Berman is also passionate about teaching and supporting learners across all levels – including instructing medical students to learn ultrasound utilizing a simulation model, co-chairing a wellness program for the OB/GYN residents, and most recently, serving as the Interim Dean for Admissions for the Medical School.
