Judith A. Coucouvanis, M.A., PMHCNS-BC, psychiatry nurse practitioner and clinical specialist in the Department of Psychiatry, recently won an award for her new book, The Potty Journey: Guide to Toilet Training Children with Special Needs, Including Autism and Related Disorders. Her recent book was judged a gold winner in the 2010 National Parenting Publications Award's (NAPPA) Parenting Resources Competition. By using a humorous approach in guiding parents through their child's potty-training journey, the book has helped produce wonderful results for children with autism and other related disorders.
The publication also offers insight from parents, educators, and child care providers who have followed the strategies presented in the book.
