What, Why, When and How to Publish Your Code as Open Source

In this MDEN session, Drew Bennett, M.B.A., director of Software, Content Licensing and Research Partnerships at Innovation Partnerships at U-M, will discuss what, why, when and how to publish code used in research as open source. Learn about the different license types, the benefits to your team and the scientific community, and what steps to follow before publishing to GitHub or GitLab.

The Mobile Data Expert Network at the University of Michigan (MDEN) brings together U-M staff and junior faculty to collaboratively create and share innovative tools and documentation for using mobile data in health research. MDEN membership is open to current U-M staff or junior faculty members with experience exporting, processing, and/or analyzing mobile data in health research. Our goal is to improve the reproducibility and rigor of health studies at U-M that utilize mobile devices.
