Annelise Madison, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Psychology in the department of Psychology’s Clinical Sciences area. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The Ohio State University. She joined the University of Michigan in 2024.

Dr. Madison’s research focuses on the psycho-neuro-immunology (mind-brain-immune connections) as a lens to develop preventative interventions for inflammatory disorders, including autoimmune disease and some cases of depression. As the gut plays a role in immune function, her work also includes exploration of the gut-brain axis. In addition, Dr. Madison is the lab director of the Michigan Psychoneuroimmunology Lab.
